Governance & Partnerships

The Corio Norlane Development Advisory Board (CNDAB) represents a partnership between government and non-government organisations, schools, industry and the community. It has a formal relationship with a number of major government and industry led projects occurring within its geographic area of interest. It provides consultative and advisory support to their separate project management structures. The CN DAB partnership, its structure and objectives are described in detail in its ‘Terms of Reference’ and by the 'Corio Norlane Development Advisory Board Partnership Agreement 2009-2012'

The CN DAB recognises the importance of a long term, comprehensive, coordinated, whole of government and community approach that ensures open, transparent and inclusive processes to achieving its vision. The CN DAB, formerly the Community Reference Committee (CRC), was formed in 2005. It became known as the CN DAB on 4 June 2008. Vital to the operation and critical to its success is the equal representation of residents and key stakeholders in decision making processes.

CNDAB StructureThe CN DAB is comprised of a 24 person membership of which 50% are local residents (two representatives from each Neighbourhood Reference Group [8], two school community representatives and two general community members) and 50% are key stakeholders, drawing from a broad range of Government, non-Government, private sector and community stakeholders who collectively reflect the interests and diversity of the Corio Norlane community. Key stakeholder members are selected on the basis of their expertise, extent to which they represent an agency, issue or population group within the community and the value they add to achieving the CN DAB's vision.

The CN DAB governance and communication structure is an essential mechanism that supports inter-sectoral coordination and community participation. The governance structure also provides a system for information dissemination and sharing. The established governance and communication structure that underpins CN DAB operations.

The CN DAB draws membership from and information about community issues and priorities from four Neighbourhood Reference Groups (NRG) including the Central Norlane NRG; Cloverdale NRG; Norlane Community Reference Committee; and Rosewall NRG. The CN DAB is further supported and informed by six sub committees comprised of community members with a particular interest in the subject area and agency representatives with specific expertise and/or responsibility for delivering improvements in that field.
