Healthy Community Plan
The Healthy Community Plan 2009-2013 represents the culmination of a long process undertaken by the Corio Norlane Development Advisory Board (CN DAB). In late 2008, the CN DAB endorsed the proposal to apply to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Alliance for Healthy Cities. In February 2009, a small working group was formed under the leadership of Dr Mark Kennedy, Chairperson, CN DAB Health and Wellbeing Subcommittee, to lead the development of the Healthy Community Plan. The Healthy Community Plan sets a course that will guide the efforts of the community and key stakeholders towards achieving the CN DAB’s vision and mission for Corio Norlane over the next four years and beyond.
The CN DAB’s Healthy Community Plan provides a long term strategy for the continued and coordinated whole of government and community approach to reduce the level of disadvantage that exists in Corio Norlane. The Plan is the product of a local process in which representatives of the community and local agencies participated in the identification of health priorities and solutions. The Plan identifies strategic actions to be implemented by members of the CN DAB, working in partnership, over the next four years and beyond. The Plan will be reviewed annually to ensure that the needs of the community continue to be met.
The Plan is a living document that articulates the structures, principals and processes in place to support an interagency response to local issues and priorities. It demonstrates the CN DAB’s commitment to uniting and influencing all key stakeholders to respond to local issues by prioritising resources and developing solutions based on the needs of the people living in Corio Norlane community.
